Excerpt from "'Should I Buy It?' - Ice Breaker & Other Exotics" (Mar. 6th, 2015)

Young Ahamkara's Spine are one of two Hunter Gauntlets in-game, and the only pair for Gunslingers. Its main feature, Improved Trip Mine, increases how long thrown Tripmines will last. Typically they last ~10 seconds. With this talent? Roughly 30 seconds. With maxed-out Discipline, they'll last until you can throw another one. Since Tripmines can be effective area denial, the longer duration would allow you (with the right placement) to lock down an area indefinitely.

If you mostly play PVE, ignore these. PVP? You'll like these. At least for Guardians already fond of Tripmines. Now, here's where the competition comes in. The other Gunslinger-specific Exotic, Achlyophage Symbiote, is very strong. Will the increased tripmine duration get you extra kills? Definitely. More than a 4th GG shot? Tough to say; maybe not. So, it comes down to whether the arena denial – and the fun factor of long-lasting grenades – is worth it.

We say: go for it. Besides, Young Ahamkara's Spine looks awesome.
