Bungie Reveals What Will Transfer Over In Destiny 2

Your characters will follow you to the sequel, but that’s about it.

One of the worst-kept secrets of the past year revolves around Bungie's development of a Destiny sequel tentatively titled Destiny 2 (a full reveal is expected during this year’s E3 event). While the sequel’s existence has yet to be officially announced, Bungie recently confirmed the first solid details on what players will be able to transfer over from their original Destiny profiles.

According to a new post on the Destiny website, characters from Destiny 1 can be transferred over to Destiny 2 (retaining their unique cosmetic traits such as gender, hairstyle, tattoos, and more) as long as they meet certain criteria:

“We know that, just like us, you have grown fond of the Guardians you’ve created, so we do plan to preserve your character personalization. We are going to recognize the dedication and passion you’ve shown for this world. Specifically, the class, race, gender, face, hair, and marking selections for all characters that have achieved Level 20 and completed the Black Garden story mission will carry forward. We also plan to award those veteran accounts with honors that reflect your Destiny 1 accomplishments.”

Sadly, your characters and their cosmetic features are just about all that will carry over from the original game. The post also confirms things like equipment, currency, and purchased items won’t make the jump over to the sequel, though they will remain available in Destiny 1 (assuming you still want to go back and revisit it once the sequel launches).

Finally, Bungie is planning one last major event for Destiny 1 called Age of Triumph. A launch date for the Age of Triumph event is currently up in the air. However, a series of livestreams planned for mid to late-March will reportedly explore what the Age of Triumph contains in greater detail.

The first Age of Triumph livestream will be held on Wednesday, March 8th, and subsequent livestreams covering the event’s new “Weekly Rituals” feature and sandbox update will be held on March 15th and March 22th respectively.
